Sena, Faustin “Gene” E. Sgt, USA (Ret)

SENA, FAUSTIN “GENE” E. SGT, U.S. ARMY (RET) age 66, died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Albuquerque VA Medical Center from complications due to illness. In and out of the hospital for nine months prior to his death, Faustin died happy and peacefully. He leaves behind his daughter, Genieen Sena; son, Adam Sena; grandson, Raymond Thomas, all of Albuquerque NM; son, Alex Sena and his wife Priscilla; grandchildren, Litisha and Eric, all of Clayton, NM; and son Faustin Sena Jr. and his wife Trudy; grandchildren, Gina, Gino, Jamie; and great-grandchild Faustina, all of Clayton NM. He was preceded in death by his daughter Monica David, in 2005, his mother Maria Sena, in 2003, and father Alfredo Sena, in 1997. Born in Clovis, New Mexico May 6, 1948 where his father worked for the railroad, Faustin enjoyed his youth and helped his mother and father raise his brothers Alfredo Jr., Gilbert, and sisters Flora, Cora, and Betty.

In January 1967 he joined the U.S. Army and became part of the 2nd Battalion 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division of the Black Lions. While proudly serving his country he was wounded in the Vietnam War in October of 1967 and received both a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Faustin continued his service to our country as he became a Medical Records File Clerk at the VA Hospital where he worked many years before being medically retired from several issues related to his time in Vietnam. After retiring from the VA Hospital, Faustin loved going fishing; going to the casino (Route 66) and spending time with his family. Faustin was easy going and had a positive outlook on life and even in the most serious situations he would make you laugh and say things were alright. His crazy sense of humor and magnetic personality drew people to become his good friends. Faustin was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1966 and served as the Treasurer for many years. He also volunteered to be a caregiver for fellow veterans. Faustin spent the last nine months of his life, everyday, cared for by his son Adam. Faustin was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Services to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 550 Atrisco Dr. SW Albuquerque NM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00am for family members and friends wishing to say good bye to Faustin followed by a military burial in Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30pm with U.S. Army retired honors.
