I was sadden to see my old commanding officer at the time Capt. Edward P Passailaigue I was his Recreation Director, one of his food service person. He was the only man that requested a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich. He was rough and tough. I served with him in Operation Long Thrust in Berlin, We also spent time in Wideflicken, Germany for training. I left Delta Company in 1963 and returned to Germany being station in Bamberg, and then to Nurenburg ending up in Frankfurt detailed to the staff of the Commanding General European Command for a short time returning to Nurnburg. Capt. Passailaigue was my great Commander for Driving Delta as we were called.

Congratulations, SFC Willie Lawson, on a fine military career. Perhaps you’ll remember me. We served together in Captain Passailaigue’s Delta Company, 1st Battle Group for about two years, during which time I was in Weapon’s Platoon. I recall you well & am pleased to see your posts on this 28th Infantry website. You may contact me at encanto1558@msn.com — BLACK LIONS!
